On February 28th Microsoft announced the Moment 2 release. Part of that Moment was an announcement that Phone Link would work with iPhone. At the time only a small select group of people had access to it, and that made me sad. But today they widened the net and I (along with all the insiders) got access to it. As soon as that button appeared on the connect page I clicked on it and scanned the QR Code. This sent my phone into pairing mode and it quickly paired with my laptop. Then it asked if I wanted to accept notifications and the app on Windows gave me some instructions to follow on the phone. Once I enabled a couple of things on the phone I was presented with a screen on Windows 11 that showed my notifications, and a history of my recent calls. Clicking on the messages button I was presented with some contacts that I frequently text. I clicked on my wife’s name and zipped off a quick text message to see if it worked. It did! It’s really cool. In theory I can make and receive phone calls and send and receive text messages. Any Notifications will show up on my computer and in the future there will be a photo sync, but with iCloud integration in Photos I’m not too worried about that. It’s pretty neat! If you are on an Insider flight of Windows check it out by pressing Start and typing Phone Link. Then let me know what you think of it.
